Legislative Report (23 September 2004)

Legislative Report, 22 September 2004

On the 21st of September, our leader Brad Wall released the Saskatchewan Party vision for the province’s economy. A New Vision for Saskatchewan’s Economy, sets out the role that a Saskatchewan Party government would play in the revitalization of our economy.

Wall proposes the creation of an agency called Enterprise Saskatchewan. According to Wall, “Enterprise Saskatchewan will ensure industry groups, local governments, First Nations, post secondary institutions, labour and economic development bodies such as Agrivision and the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce are part of the planning, implementation, governance and monitoring of Saskatchewan’s economic development strategy.” Wall said, “The goal of our Enterprise Saskatchewan plan is to create an aggressive, agile and entrepreneurial economy within a stable and positive business environment that removes the politics from economic development and can survive Saskatchewan’s volatile election cycle.”

This strategy has developed with the input of stakeholders throughout the province. In contrast to the current NDP government’s practice, this plan provides a real vision for the future of Saskatchewan. Wall says, “Never mind next year country. Saskatchewan is a promise that has waited one hundred years. It’s time to keep it.”
