H1N1 Immunization Expansion
Our government’s commitment to protecting the health of your family continues with a further expansion of H1N1 vaccination clinics. The vaccination is no longer limited to just high risk groups; all Saskatchewan people are now eligible. Here are some tips to keep in mind when you go to receive your vaccination:
For dates and times of H1N1 vaccination clinics please check the Health section under Community Information for a link to the Health Region.
A Safer Saskatchewan
Our government campaigned on a promise to make Saskatchewan safer for families. Through the efforts of special police units, such as the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), the Northern Drug Enforcement and Gang Unit and the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, we are keeping that promise. The combined efforts of those units have so far resulted in the arrest of 18 people, 15 drug-related charges and 4 firearm-related charges being laid laid, and 3 firearms, $6.195 in cash, 17.7 gm of cocaine, and 3.6 lbs of marijuana being seized.
Scholarships Of Honour
Canadian men and women, many of them from Saskatchewan, are currently serving around the world to protect the freedoms many of us take for granted. This week our government recognized 11 people with the Scholarship of Honour. The award recognizing men and women who stand up for peace and freedom with courage and dedication is for returning soldiers and the sons and daughters of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The scholarship is a one-time award of $5,000 for post-secondary education to recognize their commitment to our country.
Concert/ Event Ticket Re-selling
With prosperity comes perks, like major concerts the likes of which Saskatchewan has never seen before. But there’s also a down side – in this case, tickets that get re-sold for sky high prices. Saskatchewan people wanted our government to address the problem. This week we took the first steps toward doing that by introducing legislation that limits the activities of secondary ticket sellers, also known as ticket resellers. This legislation will ensure that the people of Saskatchewan pay fair prices for their concert tickets, rather than forking a premium over to ticket resellers.
