Well, Lorne Calvert has made it clear he doesn’t want to go to the polls until 2007, and his finance minister is not in “election mode”. So instead of providing tax cuts to spur on business and job creation as recommended in the recent Vicq report, the Calvert NDP is building-up an election slush fund to buy your vote later on.
Provincial Auditor Fred Wendel calls the NDP’s accounting practices “worrisome because the government uses the General Revenue Fund’s annual surplus or deficit as one of its key performance indicators.” Most voters in Saskatchewan would be less polite than Mr. Wendel. They would call this the same old tired games from the same old tired government.
This government could bring a lot of relief to people of Saskatchewan with this money. We could pay down debt, we could bring some needed assistance to the agriculture industry which in turn will give a boost to the Saskatchewan economy as a whole.
It brings me back to the questions, since the government is doing so well, why aren’t we?
